The most awaited ,most hyped movie of 2015 , from the SRk-Kajol-Rohit Shetty combo ends up being an average flick . From Rohit Shetty, films like Chennai Express had come and people were expecting something fresh and new for the SRK-Kajol Chemistry. This time too , the plot is the same and predictable.
Raj (Shah Rukh Khan) is a mechanic settled in Goa . He has his brother Veer( Varun Dhawan) with him . Veer falls in love with Ishitha( Kriti Sanon) . Ishitha happens to be the sister of Meera (Kajol) . We come to know that Raj and Meera had some unfinished business 15 years back. Raj ,earler a don had fallen in love with Meera. They both belonged to mafia families having conflicts. They both meet in Bulgaria and eventually fall in love. Things do take a turn and the couple drifted apart. Raj gave up his mafia business and after 15 years he runs a garage in Goa and Meera owns a shack there. Will both the love stories end up on a good note ? This forms the rest of the plot.
Dilwale is made for complete entertainment and only entertainment. It is enjoyable to an extent but is overloaded with cliches. Predictability spoil the show. The film is half entertaining. The chemistry between SRK and Kajol wasn't enough to save this film without a good plot.
There are some breathtaking shots and action sequences in the film which are thoroughly entertaining. The dangerous car sequences were well shot.

Performance

Shah Rukh Khan and his looks are the star attractions of the film. He is good looking, energetic and charming in both the avatars. Raj's character was pulled off easily by SRK and he performed exceptionally well. Especially in the action sequences.  Kajol was good in her role after a long five year break. Her different looks and performance were attractive even though we felt some scenes being too artificial.  Varun Dhawan is OK as usual. His acting and comic timing was good. He did exceptionally well in Badlapur.  Kriti Sanon doesn't have much to do in the film. Still she did her part neatly. Sanjay Mishra's acting was brilliant. Rest of the cast were good in their roles.

 Music

Janam Janam and Gerua do stand out among the songs.

Script and Direction

The script is the major drawback of the film and has many flaws and loopholes. It heavily leans on the mega stardom of the King Khan.  Rohit Shetty is not successful in capturing romance between the epic SRK-Kajol combo. Rohit Shetty had earlier worked with cliches , but in films like Chennai Express and Singham returns, he added something to worth it watch twice.  Direction is good though. The weak plot and the cliche overloaded screenplay limits the director to create an interesting drama.

Verdict : An Average Passable Film . Watch it if you are a huge fan of SRK.  Good For One Time Watch.

Rating : 2.75/5
