Happy Journey - A Passable Feel Good One ....
Director:-Boban Samuel
Screenplay:-Arunlal
Music:-Gopi Sundar
Cinematography:- Mahesh Raj
Editing:-Lijo Paul
Our Rating:-3/5
Verdict:- Average Passable One...
Happy Journey is an average feel good movie which certainly entertains but at time bore you. Boban's Samuel's 3rd film after Romans & Janapriyan is watchable but it could have been much better if it was handled with care.
The story of the film revolves around the life of Aaron (Jayasurya) a blind man who loves cricket. He had passion towards cricket from his childhood on wards & also his mother Alice(Lena)gave him enough support of develop the same passion by taking him to a cricket coach John (Sunil Sukhada). Aaron gets selection in the under 15 cricket tournament but he loses his eyesight in a road accident. Aaron & Alice tried to get selection in the Blind Cricket team & when he was all set to join the All India Blind Cricket team , his mother passes away & desperately Aaron gives up his passion. The plot of the film deals with Aaron's Journey of life. Aaron says all these to Siya Sidharth(Aparna Gopinath) whom he meets on his way to Chennai. He gets a hotel helper's job in a hotel run by Easop(Idavela Babu). His cousin Fredy (Balu Vargheese) renders him enough support. Aaron is again inspired to join in the All India Blind Cricket Team by his earlier coach John.
He finally gets selection there & from there he meets his new coach Gopikrishnan(Lal). The rest of the plot deals with how Aaron , Gopikrishnan & other members of the team struggle to fulfill their dreams.
The First half of the film is very much interesting & entertaining while the second half bores the audience a bit. Some portions of the films do gather our attention. It is a passable fare if you go with less expectations...
Performances
Jayasurya gave a brilliant performance as Aaron in his dialogue delivery, expressions & innocence. He is the one who makes us watch the film. Lal was good as Gopikrishnan. Aparna Gopinath doesn't have anything much to do. Balu Vargheese was also impressive. Rest of the cast have done their roles in a good manner.
Music
Gopi Sundar's music is good & the songs are well placed. The background score suits the mood of the film & it gives the overall feeling of the movie.
Technical Aspects
Cinematography was good though not excellent. Mahesh Raj tried to capture all the good visuals.
Direction & Screenplay
Arunlal's script is not up to the mark. Even though the first half is very interesting & thrills the audience, the second half bores them a bit. The plot , if it was treated in a bit more good way , the film would've been mind blowing. The direction by Boban Samuel was good in the first half. In the second half he tries to get control but he loses it.
Verdict:_ Average Fare...Watch it With less expectations for some good performances & an interesting first half...
