Balyakalasakhi is the cinematic adaptation of the well known novel of Vaikom Muhammed Basheer in the same name. The novel has been one of the classics and so the adaptation has turned out to be really good. The film is directed by Pramod Payyanur and has Mammotty and Isha Talwar in lead roles.
Being a period film, it hasn't disappointed the crowd. It has been a good watch.
Balyakalasakhi is a love story of Majeed (Mammotty) and Suhara (Isha Talwar). Their love towards each other has begun from their childhood itself. When the movie begins, Majeed is in search for a job at Calcutta, where he lose his bag and money. He receives help from Selvi (Seema Biswas) who introduces him to Ameen Sahib (Sasi Kumar). Ameen Sahib later offers Majeed a job in the press. Majeed then meets Shabnam (Thanushree Ghosh), daughter of Ameen Sahib. The rest is some flashback of his love story and what life has to offer him afterwards.

Performances
Mammotty's double role performance as Majeed and his father has been the best in the film. He has acted very well. Isha Talwar as Suhara also was pretty good. All others has done justice to their roles, including the child artists.

Technical Aspects
Cinematography by Hari Nair has been spectacular. He has done a good job. Music by late legend Raghavan Master and Shahabaz Aman is a treat for all those who love music.
Director Pramod Payyanur has done a neat job. The cinematic adaptation was not a easy job, but he has done a great job.

Verdict : A good movie, do watch it !

RATING :  3.5/5
