Our Rating : 2.5/5  Average

Murder mysteries are always interesting & 2013 is an year which gifted many thrillers like Memories, Mumbai Police etc...Silence too is a thriller in which VKP & Mammootty works together for the first time. After 20-20 Mammootty essays the role of an advocate in this film.

Adv .Aravind Chandrashekhar(Mammootty) is a brilliant advocate who haven't failed in even a single case in his career. He works as a lawyer in the Karnataka High Court .He is happily living with his wife Sangeetha(Pallavi Chandran)& two children . He is now promoted as the judge of Karnataka High Court. Things take a turn when Aravind reaches his hometown Kerala for attending a festival. While he happily char with his family, he gets an anonymous call asking Aravind to get ready for a hide & seek game. But when Aravind finds that himself & his family is targeted for something he seeks the help of his friend DYSP Neel George( Anoop Menon) to find out the culprit.culprit. Aravind finds that he should reopen a murder case & dig his own past which could ruin his career. Will Aravind succeed in solving this ? Answer is the rest of the film.
The film has an above average first half & an almost average second half. The intrigue & suspense is brilliantly built up initially. As the film moves to the second half , the plot gets a bit stuck & the thriller mode pales a bit.

Silence is a passable entertainer & an average thriller. The highlight of the film is Mammootty. Silence is a decent weekend watch for thriller lovers.

Performance
Mammooty as usual gave a superb performance as Aravind Chandrasekhar. Anoop Menon as Neel George IPS has done his role well. Pallvai Chandran was good. All the rest of the cast has given decent performances.

Music & BGM
Ratheesh Vegha's music and background score fails to create an impact and the background scores are unsuitable for few scenes.

Technical Aspects
Cinematography by Manoj Kumar Katoi is good & has nice moments to cheer. Editing is also good.

Screenplay
Script from YT Rajesh could have been better as the thriller thrills in the first half and fails to impress in the second half.

Direction
Direction from VKP is good. But he could have given much importance to the story line rather than some chase sequences & fight scenes.

Verdict :  Silence is an Average Watch for Thriller Lovers...!

Rating : 2.5/5
